Carsten Sieper

Lawyer

Born in 1987; attended the University of Marburg and the University of Augsburg. Clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Munich. Admitted to practice as an attorny-at-lay since 2015 with the exception of a year and a half as a judge. Mr. Sieper’s practice focuses on banking and capital markets law as well as litigation in general. In addition, he also deals with issues relating to contract law. He is based at our location in Frankfurt/Main. He is specialized attorney for banking and capital markets law

Mr. Sieper belongs to our banking and capital markets practice and represents credit institutes in disputes both in and out of court.

Dr. Nils Pelzer, B.A.

Lawyer

Born in 1986; studied law and East Asian Studies at the University of Heidelberg; from 2012 to 2016, research assistant at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law, under Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess; doctoral work in comparative legal analysis at the University of Heidelberg. Dr. Pelzer has been licensed as an attorney since 2018.
Dr. Pelzer counsels German and international clients in the conducting of complex litigation, in corporate and commercial law, in M&A transactions, and in contract law. He works in a leading capacity at the firm’s China Desk and provides advice and support for Chinese companies investing in Germany.
Dr. Pelzer is a lecturer on Chinese law at the University of Trier and is a member of the German-Chinese Bar Association, as well as the European China Law Studies Association. He is the author of a series of publications on German and Chinese law.

Fabian Walderich

Lawyer

born in 1984; attended the University of Tübingen; Attorney-at-law since 2013. Employed at a major inter-national law firm from 2013 to 2015 and at Thümmel, Schütze & Partner since May 2015. Mr. Walderich is a specialist attorney for labour law and member of the Labour Law Group of the German Bar Association.

Mr. Walderich advises and represents primarily em-ployers, but also managing directors and senior man-agement, in all matters concerning individual and collective labour law, both in and out of court. A focus of his work consists of advising in the area of termina-tion law, including works constitutional matters, creat-ing and optimizing employment agreements and labour law in connection with Mergers & Acquisition. Mr. Walderich is specialised in advising foreign compa-nies that are doing business in Germany. In addition, Mr. Walderich has special expertise in the law appli-cable to commercial agents.

As an ar­bi­tra­tor Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze has been in­volved as pre­sid­ing ar­bi­tra­tor, ar­bi­tral tri­bunal mem­ber or sole ar­bi­tra­tor in more than 100 most­ly in­ter­na­tion­al cas­es in ad-hoc and in­sti­tu­tion­al ar­bi­tra­tion pro­ceed­ings (ICC, DIS, In­ter­na­tion­al Court of Ar­bi­tra­tion at Vi­en­na and Re­gion­al Cen­tre for Ar­bi­tra­tion, Kuala Lumpur). In many oth­er cas­es he act­ed as par­ty rep­re­sen­ta­tive be­fore ar­bi­tral tri­bunals. Since 1983 Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Pro­fes­sor Dr. Thümmel is a mem­ber of sev­er­al su­per­vi­so­ry boards and ad­vi­so­ry boards in fam­i­ly-owned busi­ness­es, part­ly act­ing as chair­man of the re­spec­tive su­per­vi­so­ry bod­ies. Dr. Werner Oldenburg

born in 1945; Dr. Wern­er Old­en­burg stud­ied law and eco­nomics at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Tübin­gen 1965 – 1969; as­sis­tant lec­tur­er at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Tübin­gen (chair of Prof. Dr. H. Schröder) 1969 – 1973; ad­mis­sion to the Ger­man Bar in 1973. Dr. Old­en­burg has been a uni­ver­si­ty lec­tur­er on busi­ness and cor­po­rate law at the ESB Eu­ro­pean School of Busi­ness of Reut­lin­gen Uni­ver­si­ty.

Dr. Harro Wilde

Dr. Gerhard Bollmann

Prop­er­ty trans­ac­tions and Cor­po­rate Law have been the tra­di­tion­al prac­tice/ com­pe­tence ar­eas of Dr. Boll­mann for more than twen­ty years. Be­side his lit­i­ga­tion prac­tice in the afore­men­tioned ar­eas, he is now con­cen­trat­ing on his work as a no­tary pub­lic.

Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel

born in 1957; Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel stud­ied law at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Tübin­gen and Gene­va; ad­mis­sion to the Ger­man Bar in 1986. From 1987 to 1988 Dr. Klötzel was the head of the firm’s Sin­ga­pore of­fice. He is a lec­tur­er in For­eign Law at the ESB Eu­ro­pean School of Busi­ness of Reut­lin­gen Uni­ver­si­ty. Dr. Dirk Plagemann

He was ad­mit­ted to the Ger­man Bar in 1983 and prac­ticed first in Stuttgart. Since 1990 Dr. Plage­mann prac­tices in Dres­den. The fo­cus of Dr. Plage­mann´s le­gal prac­tice is ad­vis­ing com­pa­nies on re­gion­al, na­tion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al mat­ters, rang­ing in scope of ad­vice from the in­cor­po­ra­tion to suc­ces­sion and ques­tions of re­struc­tur­ing. Dr. Christina Mitsch

Lawyer

Dr. Christina Mitsch studied law at the universities of Munich and Würzburg. She has been a lawyer since 1990 and an accredited specialist in labour law since 1995. Certified as a company data protection officer (GDDCert. EU), she is also a member of the German Association for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD). She lectures at Berlin’s Humboldt-University and is regional manager Berlin of the Association of German Employment Lawyers (VDAA) and member of the Working Group for lawyers specialized in Employment Law, a section of the German Bar Association, the German Association of Labour Courts, the Berlin Circle of Friends and Sponsors of Labour Law and the Legal Society.

Christina is particularly experienced in the field of employee leasing, company’s pension schemes and data protection – in particular employee data protection. She advises and represents companies in addition to managing directors, board members and executives in all issues relating to labour law. This involves, among others, the individual design of employment contracts – including advice on remuneration (such as stock options), the protection of confidential information and covenants of non-competition. Christina represents all instances in court.

Severin Birkmann

born in 1962; Sev­erin Birk­mann com­plet­ed his le­gal ed­u­ca­tion at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Würzburg and Spey­er. He qual­i­fied as a Ger­man lawyer in 1991, the year when he joined the firm. Sev­erin Birk­mann has been a part­ner of our firm since 1997. He has played a sig­nif­i­cant part in es­tab­lish­ing our firm’s re­al es­tate prac­tice. He is a mem­ber of the Work­ing Group “Con­struc­tion Law” of the Ger­man Lawyers´ As­so­ci­a­tion, of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Bau­recht and of the Fo­rum Pub­lic Ten­ders.

Ralf Fuhrmann

Prof. Dr. Hervé Edelmann

Born 1961 in Beirut, Lebanon; law study, doctoral work, and teaching assistant at the University of Marburg (endowed chair of Dr. Bodo Pieroth – doctoral supervisor – and Dr. Werner Frotscher). Attorney-at-law and specialist for banking and capital markets. Visiting professor for bank contract law and capital investments at the University of Leipzig. Member of the Academic Society for Banking Law (the Bankrechtliche Vereinigung – Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Bankrecht e.V.) and the working group for banking and capital markets.
Dr. Edelmann has been a member of the board of the Stuttgart Bar Association since April 2012 where he has also been chair of the examination committee for specialists for banking and capital markets since 2007. He has made a name for himself in the field as the author of numerous publications and of the newsletter Banken-Times SPEZIAL Bankrecht, which appears monthly in cooperation with the Heidelberg Finance Colloquium. He also lectures at banking law events.
Dr. Hervé Edelmann is the practice group leader of the banking and capital markets practice. In addition, he is frequently active in litigation defense of claims arising under government liability, and advises various medium-sized and financial services enterprises during in-court proceeding.

Dr. Bettina Linder

Dr. Lin­der acts for na­tion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al com­pa­nies, in­ter alia sev­er­al pub­lish­ing com­pa­nies, in the area of the pro­tec­tion of in­dus­tri­al prop­er­ty. Dr. Lin­der has ex­per­tise in lit­i­ga­tion con­cern­ing do­mains, copy­rights and me­dia law is­sues, and law­suits con­cern­ing trade­marks or IT-law, such as com­put­er con­tracts. Since her ca­reer be­gan she has de­vel­oped a fur­ther main fo­cus on top­ics re­lat­ing to com­pe­ti­tion law.

Fur­ther­more, Dr. Lin­der has long stand­ing ex­pe­ri­ence in draft­ing and re­vis­ing stan­dard form con­tracts – al­so En­glish and French ver­sions – and pro­vides in-house-train­ing on this sub­ject for her clients. Dr. Martin Asal

born 1964; studied at the Universities of Tuebingen, Heidelberg, and Munich; doctoral work with the Faculty of Law at the University of Munich (under Dr. Peter Badura and Dr. Udo di Fabio); since 1996, attorney in Stuttgart, since 2014, also a lecturer at RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Urban Planning and Transportation.
Dr. Asal – as consultant and trial counsel of record – practices construction and real estate law.
The core of Dr. Asal’s practice focuses on project awarding and realization. His clients include similarly renowned project development and construction enterprises, private investors, and industrial enterprises, as well as the German federal states, municipalities, and other corporate bodies organized under public law. Dr. Asal provides advice for projects that are diverse in nature and scope. His practice encompasses major projects such as railroad stations and railroads, shopping centers, and urban neighborhood developments, particularly within the framework of rehabilitation efforts in the context of urban development, or industrial facilities – as well as other projects that are small but no less demanding in the legal advice required, such as acquisition of property for construction, office and factory developments and relocations, restructuring real estate by terminating leases, rebuilding or new construction, or the purchase and sale of real estate. Dr. Asal and his colleagues work together to address the tax aspects of real estate transactions, and he frequently enjoys working in close cooperation with his clients’ tax consultants.
Dr. Asal’s work additionally focuses on public construction and planning, encompassing apportionment, rehabilitation, and eminent domain proceedings as well as planning on the state and regional levels.

Dr. Andreas Chmel

Dr. Franck Schmidt-Husson

born in France in 1967; Dr. Franck Schmidt-Hus­son stud­ied law at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Freiburg, Bor­deaux (France), Saar­brück­en and Mu­nich (Cen­tre for Ph.​D.​Studies). He worked as an as­sis­tant lec­tur­er at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Saar­brück­en and earned his doc­tor­ate de­gree with a the­sis on broad­cast­ing law. Ad­mit­ted to the Ger­man Bar in 2002, Dr. Schmidt-Hus­son is a mem­ber of the Ger­man As­so­ci­a­tion for In­sur­ance Sci­ence, the Ger­man-French Lawyers As­so­ci­a­tion, and the Fran­co-Ger­man Busi­ness Club (re­gion­al chap­ter of Baden-Würt­tem­berg).
