born in France in 1967; Dr. Franck Schmidt-Husson studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Bordeaux (France), Saarbrücken and Munich (Centre for Ph.D.Studies). He worked as an assistant lecturer at the University of Saarbrücken and earned his doctorate degree with a thesis on broadcasting law. Admitted to the German Bar in 2002, Dr. Schmidt-Husson is a member of the German Association for Insurance Science, the German-French Lawyers Association, and the Franco-German Business Club (regional chapter of Baden-Württemberg).
Dr. Schmidt-Husson counsels and represents corporate and individual clients in the fields of corporate and private company law, as well as German and international insurers in underwriting, claims handling and coverage matters. In addition, he practises in the area of German-French legal relations. One of his main focuses is with issues arising at the interface of corporate and insurance law: in the field of D&O liability and D&O insurance. Here, Dr. Schmidt-Husson advises companies and their management on the prevention of liability (compliance), defends liability claims on behalf of individual insureds, monitors liability proceedings on behalf of insurers, and also serves as coverage counsel to insurance carriers.
The business magazine “WirtschaftsWoche” (issue of 14 March 2011) ranked Dr. Schmidt-Husson among the renowned D&O lawyers in Germany.
