born in 1957; Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel studied law at the Universities of Tübingen and Geneva; admission to the German Bar in 1986. From 1987 to 1988 Dr. Klötzel was the head of the firm’s Singapore office. He is a lecturer in Foreign Law at the ESB European School of Business of Reutlingen University. In addition, he is a member of the International Bar Association, the German Institution of Arbitration and a board member of both, the German-British Jurists’ Association and the German-Singapore Lawyers’ Association.
Dr. Klötzel’s practice focuses on international civil procedure law and commercial arbitration, where he acts both as arbitrator and counsel. He has wide experience in advising companies on their investment activities in Asia, in particular in India, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Taiwan, on issues relating to the incorporation of subsidiaries, structuring and negotiation of joint venture agreements – including ancillary agreements such as licence – manufacturing, and distribution and agency agreements. Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel’s strength in litigation lies in his experience in handling complex litigation in various state forums, in particular patent cases.
Dr. Klötzel is a frequent speaker at various national institutions on matters relating to his practice areas. Papers presented by him have been published in various national and international journals.
