born in 1934; legal studies at the Universities of Bonn, Freiburg/ i.Br., Geneva and Luxembourg; admitted to the German Bar in 1962.
As an arbitrator Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze has been involved as presiding arbitrator, arbitral tribunal member or sole arbitrator in more than 100 mostly international cases in ad-hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings (ICC, DIS, International Court of Arbitration at Vienna and Regional Centre for Arbitration, Kuala Lumpur). In many other cases he acted as party representative before arbitral tribunals. Since 1983 Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze is a honorary professor at the University of Tübingen for International Civil Procedural Law. He is a member of various professional associations, inter alia the German Society for Public International Law and the Academic Union for International Civil Procedural Law. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze is the author of leading publications on International Civil Procedural Law, Banking Law and Arbitration.
On 20 October 2010 the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki awarded Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze the honorary doctorate.
