Dr. Nils Pelzer, B.A.

Lawyer

Born in 1986; studied law and East Asian Studies at the University of Heidelberg; from 2012 to 2016, research assistant at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law, under Prof. Dr. Dres. h.c. Burkhard Hess; doctoral work in comparative legal analysis at the University of Heidelberg. Dr. Pelzer has been licensed as an attorney since 2018.
Dr. Pelzer counsels German and international clients in the conducting of complex litigation, in corporate and commercial law, in M&A transactions, and in contract law. He works in a leading capacity at the firm’s China Desk and provides advice and support for Chinese companies investing in Germany.
Dr. Pelzer is a lecturer on Chinese law at the University of Trier and is a member of the German-Chinese Bar Association, as well as the European China Law Studies Association. He is the author of a series of publications on German and Chinese law.

As an ar­bi­tra­tor Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Rolf A. Schütze has been in­volved as pre­sid­ing ar­bi­tra­tor, ar­bi­tral tri­bunal mem­ber or sole ar­bi­tra­tor in more than 100 most­ly in­ter­na­tion­al cas­es in ad-hoc and in­sti­tu­tion­al ar­bi­tra­tion pro­ceed­ings (ICC, DIS, In­ter­na­tion­al Court of Ar­bi­tra­tion at Vi­en­na and Re­gion­al Cen­tre for Ar­bi­tra­tion, Kuala Lumpur). Pro­fes­sor Dr. Thümmel is a mem­ber of sev­er­al su­per­vi­so­ry boards and ad­vi­so­ry boards in fam­i­ly-owned busi­ness­es, part­ly act­ing as chair­man of the re­spec­tive su­per­vi­so­ry bod­ies. Pro­fes­sor Dr. Thümmel is the co-ed­i­tor of the jour­nal “Der Auf­sicht­srat” (“The Su­per­vi­so­ry Board”).

Pro­fes­sor Dr. Thümmel is spe­cial­ized on ad­vis­ing com­pa­nies – es­pe­cial­ly fam­i­ly-owned busi­ness­es – and the man­age­ment of com­pa­nies with re­gard to cor­po­rate law is­sues and the struc­tur­ing and ne­go­ti­a­tion of trans­ac­tions. Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel

Lawyer

born in 1957; Dr. Thomas R. Klötzel stud­ied law at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Tübin­gen and Gene­va; ad­mis­sion to the Ger­man Bar in 1986. From 1987 to 1988 Dr. Klötzel was the head of the firm’s Sin­ga­pore of­fice. He is a lec­tur­er in For­eign Law at the ESB Eu­ro­pean School of Busi­ness of Reut­lin­gen Uni­ver­si­ty. He has made a name for himself in the field as the author of numerous publications and of the newsletter Banken-Times SPEZIAL Bankrecht, which appears monthly in cooperation with the Heidelberg Finance Colloquium. He also lectures at banking law events.

Dr. Martin Asal

Dr. Asal – as consultant and trial counsel of record – practices construction and real estate law.
The core of Dr. Asal’s practice focuses on project awarding and realization. His clients include similarly renowned project development and construction enterprises, private investors, and industrial enterprises, as well as the German federal states, municipalities, and other corporate bodies organized under public law. Dr. Asal provides advice for projects that are diverse in nature and scope. His practice encompasses major projects such as railroad stations and railroads, shopping centers, and urban neighborhood developments, particularly within the framework of rehabilitation efforts in the context of urban development, or industrial facilities – as well as other projects that are small but no less demanding in the legal advice required, such as acquisition of property for construction, office and factory developments and relocations, restructuring real estate by terminating leases, rebuilding or new construction, or the purchase and sale of real estate. Dr. Anastasia Burkhardt

Born in 1977, studies at the universities Göttingen and Paris II, research assistant at the Chair for Civil Law, Commercial and Buiness Law of Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), doctorate in the area of the law of the limited liability company, admitted to the bar since 2008, member of the German-Russian Jurists Association (Deutsch-Russische Juristenvereinigung e.V.).

Dr. Burkhardt is a contact person for domestic and foreign enterprises, especially in the field of the car supplier industry. She advises them comprehensively on contract design, insurance law questions and issues related to restructuring and the liability of D&Os. Dr. Burkhardt conducts negotiations with customers and suppliers and executes disputes both inside and outside the courtroom.

Due to her corporate law expertise, Dr. Burkhardt advised on many acquisitions and restructurings. Dr. Burkhardt assumes the preparation of a transaction, the contractual execution as well as the coordination with other departments of the firm. Katrin Etteldorf

Constanze Muck

Ms. Muck’s practices primarily focuses on litigation involving medium-sized and large companies in banking and leasing matters. Prof. Dr. Dietmar Ehrlich

born in 1941; Prof. Dr. Ehrlich stud­ied law at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Würzburg un­til con­fer­ral of his doc­tor­ate. He was ad­mit­ted to the Ger­man Bar in 1974. From 1972 un­til 2004 Prof. Dr. Ehrlich was mem­ber of the le­gal de­part­ment of a large Ger­man bank where he held a po­si­tion as gen­er­al coun­sel for many years. Since 1989 Prof. Dr. Ehrlich has been a lec­tur­er at the Fac­ul­ty of Eco­nom­ic Sci­ence of the Uni­ver­si­ty Tübin­gen. Since 2000, he has been a hon­orary pro­fes­sor in the same fac­ul­ty. In 2006, he joined Thümmel, Schütze & Part­ner as of-coun­sel for the Area of Ex­per­tise of Bank­ing Law and Cap­i­tal Mar­kets. He is the au­thor of sev­er­al pub­li­ca­tions in the area of bank­ing law, with a fo­cus on ex­ter­nal trade.
